The Benefits and Enjoyment Sarah Has with Horsepower
Sarah’s joy actually starts when we turn onto the gravel road approaching the ranch…she begins saying “Hello” as soon as she gets out of the car!
When she comes around the bend to benches where the gear and volunteers are preparing, Sarah is so excited to say “Hey Everybody!” and “Can you come here for a second?!?”
Sarah loves to spot the newest volunteer and welcome them as if it’s their first day of school or like an old friend she hasn’t seen in years!
Sarah (who will chat the entire way en route to mounting her horse) let’s out a big giggle when she mounts the horse and gets her feet into the stirrups. We’ve seen the staff’s patience with Sarah as she’s gone from hesitation to excitement when she gets on her horse.
You know Sarah is ready to ride when she proudly states “WALK ON” as she enters the arena. This is where Sarah may attempt to continue her conversation with the newest volunteer. We’ve always said that Sarah could entertain another rider from here to Tulsa with her “You know what?!?” and “Did I tell you about my cooking show?!” Sarah feels so welcomed by the staff and walkers when she’s in the arena…as her parents, its great the confidence she has being on a horse.
Sarah has greatly benefited from some of the exercises that she does on the horse. Sarah loves when Mrs. Emily tells her that she’s going to lead the on horse calisthenics. When her class takes strolls on the trails, she’s the vocal leader when they ride. Her confidence is at another level when she’s riding the trails…
After a full ride, you’re gonna hear Sarah’s giggle as she dismounts the horse. She will still try to stay and chat after class…and usually her dad reminds her that others have a class after her…Sarah has even struck up a little friendship with a rider NOT in her class.
It’s because of the joy that Horsepower ranch brings to Sarah. She can tell you which horse she rode along with the other students in her class. Her favorite saying once we get in the car after each session… “I had fun!”
