Mothers and Daughters at HorsePOWER

Mother’s Day was last weekend, which seemed like an excellent time to reflect on something I have noticed quite a lot around HorsePOWER lately.

I spend a great deal of time observing humans.

This is partly because I am curious by nature and partly because it is important to maintain awareness of who may be opening snack wrappers.

Over time, I have noticed something special at HorsePOWER.

Mothers and daughters come here together.

Sometimes they volunteer side by side in the barn. Sometimes one rides while the other watches from the rail. Sometimes they work quietly beside one another, understanding each other without needing many words at all.

And during lessons, something especially wonderful happens.

I have watched mothers encourage nervous daughters before a lesson. I have watched daughters proudly teach their mothers the names of horses and explain grooming techniques with great authority. I have seen the smiles after a good ride, the excitement when something finally clicks, and the unmistakable look on a mother’s face when she sees her child accomplish something difficult or brave.

There is something comforting about seeing people share this place across generations.

HorsePOWER is, of course, about much more than horses.

It is also about relationships. Confidence. Trust. Patience. Community. And sometimes, without anyone planning it, it becomes a place where memories are made together and a little bit of magic happens too.

There is something powerful about the bond between mothers and daughters, and HorsePOWER has a way of giving them opportunities to grow, learn, laugh, and accomplish things together.

And if one of them happens to drop a snack while making those memories, well, that is simply an added benefit from my perspective.
